Button to unlock/toggle table edit permission

I would like certain users to be able to edit a table if required but the default view to be view only. An ‘edit table’ button would be best.

looking for a similar thing. would remove the need for an edit and a details link in the same table

You could create a display rule to only show the Edit button for those specific users that need to be able to edit the field.
