Improve the Kanban

I’d love to see improvements to the Kanban. Something similiar to Pipedrive’s.

Features such as;

being able to total the sum of a field in each column
resize the column width depening on the number of colums so they all fit in the window without scrolling
more options to change the look and feel

We have big plans for components in 2025 which I’m very excited about. Someting we had in the pipeline for many years but am confident it’ll happen this year (universal component).

For now, if you’re open to it I can delegate someone to build a custom component that essentially has no limits and can be anything you want it to be. We’ll start with the Pipedrive design/features for now.

I’ll keep you posted.

I just remembered about this post from a while back about a cool kanban built with the custom component:

This sounds good Moe,

I have just built a test Kanban component but it would be great if it had the following functionality and features; I’ll work on this more to see if i can achieve some of the following;

  • I see i can set the Kanban columns to the value of a radio field. It would be great to be able to filter the columns based on a table field. e.g A field called Pipeline is changed, the Kanban only shows columns of the stages related to the selected Pipeline. Currently Pipeline and Stages are tables and are connected.
  • Total the sum of a field value at the top of each column – i.e commission value
  • Count the number of deals based on the current filter - we could do this with a card if the card can be changed when the Kanban is filtered
  • Sum the pipeline value - we could do this with a card if the card can be changed when the Kanban is filtered
  • Adjust the width of a column so they all fit in one view port - i can see the width can be set but it would be good if it was dynamic based on the number of columns
  • Better UI customisation
  • Ability to filter Kanbans with the filter plugin.
  • Allow Drag n Drop between columns - i may have missed this but the test kanban doesn’t allow drag n drop
  • Run actions on drag n drop. do something when dropped in to a different column
  • It looks like the Kanban is an iFrame - scrolling is not ideal
