The results are in! Our team has tallied up the votes for the greatest database software and you guessed it, we won by a landslide. Time to dive in to what we’ve been lobbying for:
Our engineers have cast their votes and are presenting us with:
- Several additional security updates
- Fixes to equation and rollup fields
Our latest security update to the attachments field is actively being rolled out and we highly recommend you capitalize and utilize these enhancements.
When working with secure files, you can now ensure that this file doesn’t get downloaded by additional parameters.
Secure files are only accessible where they are added in your app, even on an insecure page. For enhanced security, you can also restrict access by requiring the user to belong to a specific role or by linking the file to the user’s account through a connection field to the User table.
There are 3 new options here:
-
Restrict access by Logged in user Field - This must be a field from this table that connects to the Users table. if the field is connected to the logged in user then the file will be allowed to be downloaded. An example would be a field called “File Uploaded by” with a connection to the User table and assigned to the file owner.
-
Restrict access by Logged in Role - Any User that has this role will be allowed to download this file.
-
Restrict by Role or Field - useful if you want a file restricted to the user who uploaded it but also to anyone who is an admin. This works as an “OR” condition.
Important to note: this does NOT change any access restrictions from within the builder and only works with secure files.
Plugin of the week:
Enhance data analysis in your app with the Duplicate Detector plugin. This plugin effortlessly spots and highlights duplicate values in your tables, improving data visibility and accuracy.
This plugin is ideal for applications where data integrity is crucial, such as inventory management, customer databases, and data reporting tools.
