I needed to work with various data sources and I stumbled across this tool a few years ago.
I have found it extremely powerful, especially for merging disparate data sources into one other source, and tweaking the data along the way.
The learning curve is not too steep - the way to works visually with your data, works for me.
It is for Windows only. There is a limited free version available, which is still very useful.
